IoP – Island Race

August 14th, 2009

You have to do the Island Race to get the Secret Keys needed in the Emerald Square for the Parme rescue mission.
The aim of the race is to collect within 30 minutes 4 Race Stamps. The special thing about this quest is that it can only be done by one player at a time and each time 30 minutes are needed. Once a player has picked up this quest, there is no way for others to get in on it. Everybody must wait until the first player’s time is up, then the quest is available again for one new player. Therefore you must be quick when picking up the quest or do it, if at all possible, outside of the peak hours.

Quest steps
1) After a player has picked up the quest from Sailos, he will be given a timer that tells how much time is left. The quest must be finished within 30 minutes.

2) Move to the four Race Locations on the map and attack the Prison Guards. Sailos is standing near the bottom right Location.

Put simply, this quest is all about running! Run to the four Locations and hit monsters. Of course, if a player has four Summoner or Warcryer friends, he can ask them to move beforehand to those four Locations and simply summon him there! The Race Location in the upper right part of the map is the one that takes the most running, because it is in the Chromatic Highlands. But if you carefully pick your way, you can, more or less along the blue line, climb around the rock wall, thus crossing the mountains and directly drop down in front of the Race Location.

3) At every Race Location there will be three Prison Guards. Two of them will actively run up to the player and attack him, one of them won’t move; this immovable one is invincible. The aim is to attack the immovable Guard. You just have to keep on hitting him, then you will sooner or later obtain a Race Stamp.

Some simple tactics:
1. Storm in and attack hard. First kill the two mobile Guards, then hit the stationary one. (Suitable for characters with high P.Atk.)
2. Sleep the two mobile Guards, then hit the stationary one. (Suitable for mages)
3. Keep taking Quick Healing Potions. Don’t mind the other two Guards, directly hit the stationary one. (Suitable for characters with a lot of HP)
Keep in mind that only a character carrying the timer can attack the Guards. The Prison Guards won’t pay any attention to irrelevant bystanders. If players who did not pick up the quest attack a Prison Guard, they will be petrified. Only players who have picked up the quest can attack the NPCs and obtain the quest item. Because a Summoner’s creature has no way to get the timer, it will equally be petrified if sent to attack a Prison Guard. No matter what class you are, everybody has to attack the Guards with their own hands!
4) As soon as you have your Race Stamp, head as fast as possible to the next Race Location. When you have collected all four Race Stamps, return to Sailos and talk to him to finish the quest.

Each time you do the Race, you get 3 Secret Keys [in Chinese: "Keys to the Secret Garden"].

Those are quest items you need for the Emerald Square, they are neither tradeable nor dropable. In a party that has set out to rescue Parme at least one member must have done this quest, there must be at least 3 Keys in the party to be able to break through the Emerald Square. To be on the safe side we would suggest that at least two party members should do the Island Race before you set out for the Emerald Square. If one key holder should get disconnected or whatever, you then have a substitute and can go on without problems. Of course, if you are in high spirits every party member can do this quest.
Carol 16580, a Bishop, did the four Locations in this sequence: Sailos -> Chromatic Highlands -> Dark Cloud Mansion -> left side of Crystal Caverns, with a Summoner at Dark Clod Mansion, because once you have jumped down to the Highlands Location you won’t be able to climb up again. She killed the Prison Guards (Undead) with Might of Heaven and had 4 minutes left when she was back at Sailos.
Love 20604, a Gladiator, did it in this sequence: Sailos -> Chromatic Highlands -> left side of Crystal Caverns -> Dark Cloud Mansion. After the Chromatic Highlands he returned by Scroll of Escape to Heine, let the Priest of Dawn teleport him to Alligator Island, ran/swam to the Location on the left, then ran to Dark Cloud Mansion -> Sailos. He had 5 minutes left. He used Sonic Move to increase his Movement Speed.
Morceau21 did it with a Destroyer, three times in three different sequences:
1. Sailos -> Chromatic -> west side of Island -> Dark Cloud Mansion (Scroll of Escape)
2. West side -> Dark Cloud -> Sailos -> Chromatic (sneaking past the dragon in Dragonbomber-transformed state)
3. West si
de -> Dark Cloud -> Chromatic – Sailos (Scroll of Escape and Dragonbomber transform)
He got his Race Stamps all within 2 minutes, while tse207 had to beat on the immovable Guard for up to 15 minutes. And all without Summoner.
And Henry428 did the quest in 22 minutes by taking Greater Haste Potions.
